A holistic community development project
“Gabay at Lingkod” means to guide and serve. Our adopted communities are Barangay Singkamas in Makati City and Barangay Lagadlarin in Lobo, Batangas. We help in a holistic way, guided by Rotary’s seven areas of focus.
Providing Pragmatics Solutions to Basic Problems
We serve our adopted communities by providing tools to improve the quality of their residents’ daily lives.
Livelihood skills and funding
With hands-on livelihood seminars in meat processing, we train adults with new skills. We provide start-up business funds to winners of a community contest.
Supporting Lagadlarin Mangrove Forest
We help by providing nipa huts, kayaks, and tree houses, which are revenue sources for the residents of Lagadlarin. The Mangrove Forest is a popular weekend get-away from neighboring towns.
Sanitized water systems
The community school now has sanitized water. For children to grow up healthy and happy, they need access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene.
Teacher training
In collaboration with Knowledge Channel Foundation, the “Basa Bilang” project teaches teachers proven techniques to strengthen a child's early reading skills - a fundamental requisite for a strong educational foundation.
Sharing Teacher Best Practices
There is much to learn from the teachers of our urban and provincial adopted communities and schools. We facilitate these best practice sharing sessions where teachers expand their knowledge and build camaraderie.
Choose Kindness: Promoting Positive Behavior in School
The campaign promotes five virtues: sharing, respect, helping, understanding, and patience. Children receive non-material rewards. Since the program’s launch, Francisco F. Benitez Elementary School has seen a dramatic drop in bullying behaviors amongst children.
Empowering and Healing Workshops
“Bagong Sibol” is a workshop that helps build skills for conflict management. With better interpersonal skills, people improve their work and family relationships. We harnessed the expertise of top university professors and our very own medical member experts to deliver these workshops.
Family Workshops
A society is as strong as its basic unit - the family. We provide workshops on parenting skills and awareness of the legal rights of women and children.
Financial Literacy Workshops
Money is one of the top sources of contention between family members. By providing the basics of money management, we empower family members to be in control.
Artwork For Peace
Children ages 10-13 years old participated in "Artwork for Peace," a contest where they expressed the values of peace and good citizenship through artwork. This initiative promoted peer collaboration and challenged the children to think about their impact on promoting peace.
Children Learning
Every year we treat deserving students during Christmas - whether its book reading or a trip to KidZania, where they experienced immersive and fun role-playing scenarios, learning valuable life skills in a safe and interactive environment.

In collaboration with Kahariam Farms, experts in organic farming and vermiculture, this webinar teaches the basics of urban farming. Learn the benefits of growing your vegetables and how easy it is to get started!
